This shooting program, focused on youths ages 10 to 15, is a monthly competition shooting at Metallic Silhouettes with cal .22 rifles at one half of the regulation distance.

In 2008 we plan to shoot the first Saturday of the month, May through September, from 8:30 a.m. to about 1:00 p.m., depending on the the turnout of shooters. First relays finish prior to 1:00p.m. The dates are as follows:

May 3rd
June 7th
July 5th
August 2nd
September 6th
Shooters need not shoot in every match to qualify for Light Rifle awards.

We keep score with some awards going to the top shooters each year. Scores of 25 to 37 of a possible 40 are common with our frequent shooters. The competition is stiff.

We are proud to see these youngsters become safe firearms handlers who practice the rules faithfully. The rule "Muzzles up and Action Open" is known to all of them!

Shooting is open to members and non-members, and there is no shooting fee for the youth shooters. Shooters under the age of 18 MUST be accompanied by a responsible adult, and the adult must be with the shooter at all times. All shooters provide their own ammunition. Shooters 18 and over pay $2.00 per round of 40 targets.

Shooting is also available to adult shooters, and we welcome them.
